Ellwood Mesa Open Space area (which includes the Goleta Butterfly Grove) and parking lot are currently closed due to impacts from the February 2024 storm. Many trees have fallen and there is the potential for more to fall. Thank you for your cooperation. Monarch butterflies migrate each year to the Goleta Butterfly Grove to find protection from freezing temperatures and winter storms. They can usually be seen here from mid-October through February. Monarch populations have varied greatly in recent years, from almost none in 2020-2021 to over 26,000 in 2023-2024. Eucalyptus trees in the grove have suffered greatly over the last decade from beetles, extended drought and winter storms. The City of Goleta is working to enhance the butterfly habitat, protect the public, and reduce the risk of fire. Visitor information and current monarch counts can be found at GoletaButterflyGrove.com.

TOBIN JAMES-IT'S ALL TRUE!! Open 10 - 6 daily. Tobin James Cellars, established in 1987, is famous for its rich, intense Cabernet Sauvignons, Zinfandels, Syrahs, Merlot, Bordeaux blends, Chardonnay and many other varietals. Tasting at the Grand Antique Bar, the popular Tasting Room is always a must for wine lovers. The legendary James Gang Wine Club is a growing testament to the winery's commitment to excellent quality and its fun, unpretentious approach to wine. Only closed Christmas Day.

The Lompoc Wine Ghetto (part of the Lompoc Wine Trail) is a unique collection of wineries and tasting rooms in an industrial complex, various nearby locations in town. It's many tasting rooms represent more than 20 local brands. You won't find vast estates or opulent tasting rooms, but you will find world-class wine, presented in a laid back atmosphere. Come spend a weekend with us tasting exceptional wines in this very non-traditional setting. If great wine is what you seek, come pound the pavement for a while and discover the treasures of the Lompoc Wine Ghetto. FAQ When are you open? All weekends, with some Mon. & Thurs. Visit our website to see each winery for hours Can I bring my children? By law, no one under the age of 21 is allowed in tasting rooms (please bring valid government issued photo I.D.) What about food? Pack a lunch and find a picnic table Large groups? Many cannot accommodate large groups. Call each winery directly.
