Many trees have fallen and there is the potential for more to fall. Thank you for your cooperation. Monarch butterflies migrate each year to the Goleta Butterfly Grove to find protection from freezing temperatures and winter storms. They can usually be seen here from mid-October through February. Monarch populations have varied greatly in recent years, from almost none in 2020-2021 to over 26,000 in 2023-2024. Eucalyptus trees in the grove have suffered greatly over the last decade from beetles, extended drought and winter storms. The City of Goleta is working to enhance the butterfly habitat, protect the public, and reduce the risk of fire. Ellwood Mesa Open Space area (which includes the Goleta Butterfly Grove) and parking lot are currently closed due to impacts from the February 2024 storm. Visitor information and current monarch counts can be found at GoletaButterflyGrove.com.

Want a piece of ABC gum? Head to this fascinating, if somewhat unsanitary, walkway that features walls covered with gum of the "already been chewed" variety.

Soil. Vines. Wines. In this order. We are resolute in our passion to produce hand made, minimally invasive wines that both whisper and shout about the terrior from which they are grown. The Ampelos vineyard is sustainable, organic and biodynamic certified and our focus on a natural process in evident in every aspect of our winemaking. Located in the cool coastal climate of California's central coast our 82 acre vineyard is part of the breathtaking Sta. Rita Hills AVA and planted with 27 acres of vines. Our primary focus is on Pinot Noir, but we also grow and produce small batches of Syrah, Grenache, and Viognier. Taste through all of our wines by joining us in our tasting room located in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto.

The Lompoc Wine Ghetto (part of the Lompoc Wine Trail) is a unique collection of wineries and tasting rooms in an industrial complex, various nearby locations in town. It's many tasting rooms represent more than 20 local brands. You won't find vast estates or opulent tasting rooms, but you will find world-class wine, presented in a laid back atmosphere. Come spend a weekend with us tasting exceptional wines in this very non-traditional setting. If great wine is what you seek, come pound the pavement for a while and discover the treasures of the Lompoc Wine Ghetto. FAQ When are you open? All weekends, with some Mon. & Thurs. Visit our website to see each winery for hours Can I bring my children? By law, no one under the age of 21 is allowed in tasting rooms (please bring valid government issued photo I.D.) What about food? Pack a lunch and find a picnic table Large groups? Many cannot accommodate large groups. Call each winery directly.
